These styles are real Unicode characters, so they survive the feed and paste anywhere: LinkedIn, X, Instagram, bios, and more. Use them sparingly, a bold first line lands harder than a whole bold post.

Using bold and italic on LinkedIn

Why LinkedIn has no bold button

LinkedIn's post composer strips normal formatting, so there is no built-in way to bold or italicize a word. This tool works around that by converting your letters into Unicode characters that already look bold or italic. They are single characters, not hidden styling, so the look survives when you paste into a post, a comment, or your profile.

The same trick works almost everywhere text goes: X, Instagram captions, Threads, Facebook, and most bios. Type once here, and you can reuse the styled version across every platform.

How to format without hurting your reach

Use styling on one line, usually the hook, not the whole post. A single bold first line pulls the eye down into your writing. A fully bold or italic post does the opposite: it reads like shouting, and people skim past it.

Keep the body in plain text so it stays easy to read, and let the formatting mark the one idea you most want someone to catch. Restraint is what makes it land.

A note on accessibility

Screen readers can struggle with styled Unicode, reading it out letter by letter or skipping it entirely. That means anyone using assistive tech may miss whatever you put in a fancy font.

So never place essential information in styled text only. Treat these styles as emphasis layered on top of a clear plain-text message, not a replacement for it, and your post stays readable for everyone.

FAQ

Good to know.

Why doesn't LinkedIn have bold text built in?

LinkedIn's post editor strips normal formatting. This tool works around it by converting your letters into Unicode characters that already look bold or italic, so the styling survives when you paste.

Will this work on X, Instagram, and Facebook too?

Yes. Because these are real Unicode characters, not hidden formatting, they paste and display the same way across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, and most bios and captions.

Is it bad for accessibility?

Use it sparingly. Screen readers can struggle with styled Unicode, so keep it to a short hook or a key phrase rather than a whole post, and never for essential information only.

How is this different from CaptureFlow?

This formats one line of text. CaptureFlow writes the whole post, turning one idea into a week of on-brand content across every platform, automatically.
